I didn't know Spencer or have an opportunity to exchange messages
with him here, but, by reading your posts, I was very aware of the
suffering he was enduring and the heartache it was giving you and
your family. I am sure he is in a better place now and I pray that
time will heal your emotional wounds as well.

Respectfully,

Thinking of Angel's sweet sweet spirit ....now free of suffering and pain... and in peaceful communion with the other Angels ... and I'm just holding back the tears that are welling up inside me ... somehow knowing he would want that we not spend too much time weeping.

Pat - Bigg Huggs and Heart-felt Sympathy to You, Spencer's Dad and your entire family and circle of friends. I can't possibly thank you enough for the regular updates on Spencer's condition ... and ...  I would be honored if you would continue to stay in touch with us and share with us the many happy memories that Spencer gifted his family and friends with during the time that God loaned him to us.

Spencer touched the lives of those who came to know him in such a positive way that his beautiful spirit is certain to linger forever.

Yes, yes, quite a shock to all of us I am sure. Katie and I had a chance to go down and visit with him earlier this month - she has visited him several times. He seemed awake and recovering, tho he could not speak. We had great fun putting words in his mouth and he laughed softly at our attempts to interpret his words.

Spence was a good man, difficult to comprehend fully, as he was private about many things that troubled him. I do know that he loved Katie deeply, and that my dear friend needs your support even as Spence needs our prayers for a happier everafter.

Katie and I have kept in touch ... she is one more beautiful person ... always close in my thoughts and prayers ... and I am just proud to call her *friend*.

Spencer meant so much to her and she meant so much to him.

Better to have the poet's heart than brain,
Feeling than song, a music of God's making;
A tablet, say, on which God's finger of flame,
In words harmonious, of triumphant verse,
That mingles joy and sorrow, sets down clear,
That out of darkness he hath called light.
It may be voice to such is after given,
To tell the mighty tale to other worlds. ... .... ....

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die….

I am sure your sympathy is appreciated by all, Vermillion. His work was simple, elegant and oh so romantic. It was the thing that I first noticed about Spencer, the longing voice behind the words.

on a cardinal's wings,
and hope glows
inside my heart
when the snowbirds sing,

I'll remember you

Sifting through this history of poems
Thoughts, love
The angel among
us has gone.

He told of his love
His life
And even told
Of the fight to live

He told us he was dying
Skimming through
It seems
No one heard

He will live on through these words
As long
As the board will
Allow.

Mary,

This was a beautiful poem. Spencer would have
loved it.

Yes, he told us he was dying. Please don't
think 'no one heard'.

Trust me when I say we were all aware of it
and Spencer knew it.

He had many close friends here who loved him
very much but most of what you missed was
'behind the scenes'.

Circles of prayer and special websites were
formed for Spencer. There was constant
prayer going out in his behalf from his
friends here who loved him very much.

But you are right...

"He will live on through his words
as long as the board will allow"

but also 'others', as you have seen and
read today will work to keep his memory alive.

He was never forsaken and will not be
forgotten.

Thank you for writing this poem here.

Love,

~Jazziette

Thanks Jazz. I feel for you guys. I've lost several friends the last few years to that ugly fiend cancer. It's especially hard when you think of how "young" we all really are to have so much death touch our lives. You think you'll hang around these people well into your 70's and 80's and then-poof, at the ripe old age of 39 or 40, they're gone.

And having just re-entered the world of chat and message boards, I have to say, you're right. I'm not aware of all the "behind the scenes" actions and commentary. My feelings were based strictly on what I've read from the last few years here.

My deepest sympathy to those who lost a true friend.

ECHOES
By Spencer

Like a ghost in a
haunted house

The sounds of your
footsteps

Of your passing
thru my life

I never told you
what you meant
to me

Now I can only
tell you
how much I miss
you

And how the sounds
of you are still
with me
in my heart

Making me
wish you
were here

Instead of
just
the shadows
of the
past

Haunting
my
soul

* your words . . . too empty to find my own - sending them back to you
with a genlte hug of course

I was always going to put it back up along with many of his other poems.
Never did :(

That's the thing - there's isn't always time to do those things we're always 'gonna go'
and when time runs out . . . you're left with this empty feeling of regret.

So much world and so little time, mystick.
Sometimes it seems as if our words are our only weapon against the clock. From what I've read the last 2 days, your friend had a mighty arsenal and left a rich legacy, not only of beautiful words, but more importantly, people who loved and respected him.
I myself could ask for little more....but time...as we all covet time.
I'm so sorry for your loss.

Reading these posts have brought tears to my
eyes but the joy in having had the opportunity
to read them again and so collectively has
been wonderful and healing and in it's own
way inspiring and joyous.

I think that Spencer would have really liked
this.

Stevie especially......for so many, many poems
of Spencer's and for helping us through the
most difficult day and for preparing us for
a journey on the 'starship' with Archangel,
thank you so much.

Tweety....of course you have done so much and
continue on in your endeavors. No one could
ask for a better friend.

Sasha and Mystick and SM and all the others
who posted Spencer's poems for us to read...

"thank you so very, very much".

Isn't it a blessing to have friends? Isn't it
a blessing to have these wonderful memories?

This is what life is all about. In the
great big scheme of things....

"love is what
really matters".

Isn't that what Spencer used to say????

It seemed he always signed his letters that
way. :)

Thanks for all the posts of Spencer's
beautiful poems. I have enjoyed reading them
so much. I am going to post the first one of
Spencer's poems that I ever read in my next
post here.

With Love,

~Jazz
